Va. nursing moms may get spot to pump milk at school

Nursing mothers would be assured a private place in Virginia public schools to pump breast milk for their babies under legislation passed Thursday by the House of Delegates.

The bill (HB720) from Del. Jennifer McClellan, D-Richmond, directs that a non-restroom location, shielded from public view, be designated for use by school employees and students to pump milk until their children reach the age of 1.

The measure cleared the House on an 87-9 vote and advances to the state Senate.
