The Democratic nomination caucus has been set!  There will be an unassembled caucus to select the Democratic candidate for the 9th State Senate District. The caucus will take place on Saturday, December 3rd. from 10 a.m until 2 p.m and will be open to all registered voters in the 9th State Senate District who consider themselves to be Democrats. 


Today Governor Terry McAuliffe issued the writ of the Special Election to replace Congressman-Elect Donald McEachin in the 9th State Senate District. The date of the Special Election has been set for January 10th. We are waiting to learn the process for the Democratic nomination. Stay tuned for details.


RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Democrat A. Donald McEachin has resigned his state senate seat as he prepares to become a U.S. congressman.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports ( McEachin resigned Monday. The Richmond-area Democrat easily won election to Congress earlier this month in a newly drawn, court-ordered congressional district.


Del. Jennifer L. McClellan’s path to becoming the Democratic nominee for a Richmond-area state Senate seat became clearer over the past week as a potential rival, Del. Lamont Bagby, announced he will not seek the office.

Bagby, D-Henrico, said in a Facebook post last week that he will not run for the 9th District seat being vacated by Sen. A. Donald McEachin, D-Henrico, who is heading to Washington as the newly elected representative of the redrawn 4th Congressional District.
